One of the most talked-about Packers draft picks of the last five years seems to think his time in Green Bay is coming to an end.
“I enjoyed my opportunities here,” running back Brandon Jackson told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel this week. “And I really don’t know what’s going to happen. But if it’s here, hey, I’m glad to be here. If it’s somewhere else, then I’ll take it somewhere else.”
Jackson racked up over 1,000 yards from scrimmage this year, but was underwhelming as an every down back. Still, he’s caught 94 passes over the last three years and makes a solid third down back. He just had his most memorable moment on the team with his touchdown against the Eagles.
Jackson’s pass protection has improved over the years. Still, Rob Reischel writes that Jackson will “probably be somewhere else” next year.
“There’s been no communication between us whatsoever,” Jackson said about contact with the team about his future. “Is that frustrating? I don’t know. A little bit.”
James Starks and Ryan Grant could form a nice duo in 2011, but we wouldn’t be surprised to see Jackson back. He likely has more value to Mike McCarthy than anyone else.
