As the Cardinals withstand injury after injury to quarterbacks, and try to hang on to the top spot in the NFC playoff seedings, they’ve signed another passer.

Sadly, it was not Tim Tebow.

Jokes aside (and it was a joke, lighten up Francis), the Cardinals did add a quarterback, adding undrafted rookie Jeff Matthews to the practice squad, per Darren Urban of the team’s official website.

With Drew Stanton’s status up in the air, the Cardinals needed at least another arm for practice while they figure out a way to hang on with Ryan Lindley and/or Logan Thomas this week against the Seahawks.

Matthews, a former Cornell quarterback (shown here hanging with fellow Ivy Leaguer Ryan Fitzpatrick), has spent time with the Falcons and Colts. And while we’re sure he’s a nice fellow, he’s not Tebow, which would have livened up the day nicely.
