One of the Rams’ standout defensive players has returned to practice after a nine-week absence.
Defensive end Chris Long, out since Week One after ankle surgery, officially took part in practice on Wednesday, per the NFL’s transactions. He remains on injured reserve/designated for recall.
The 29-year-old Long has notched 50.5 sacks since joining St. Louis in 2008, recording at least 8.5 sacks four times.
The Rams (3-6) now have until Wednesday, December 3 to decide whether to add Long back to the 53-player roster or to keep him on injured reserve.
One of the Rams’ NFC West rivals also had two players return to practice Wednesday. Two 49ers rookies — defensive tackle Kaleb Ramsey (Achilles) and fullback Trey Millard (ACL tear) — worked out with the club, according to the league. Ramsey is on the reserve/physically unable to perform list, while Millard is on the reserve/non-football injury list.
