Colts interested in Frank Gore, too

San Francisco 49ers v Arizona Cardinals

Add the Colts to the list of teams showing interest in soon-to-be free agent running back Frank Gore.

The 49ers are expressing optimism that they can keep Gore in San Francisco, but the Eagles are trying to get Gore to Philadelphia. Now comes word from CSNBayArea.com that the Colts and Gore have mutual interest.

It’s easy to see why that mutual interest would exist: The Colts need to upgrade at running back after the Trent Richardson trade turned out to be a disaster, and Gore would be a good fit in the Colts’ offense. He’d also surely like to go to a good team with a franchise quarterback in place as he attempts to get a Super Bowl ring before his career ends.

A week ago it might have seemed unlikely that Gore would draw a ton of interest in free agency, as Gore will turn 32 in May, and the running back market in the NFL looked like it was trending downward. But as deals have gotten done in the days leading up to free agency, it has become clear that teams are willing to pay for a good running back. Gore will benefit from that.
