CULPEPPER TO START SUNDAY?

It’s possible that veteran quarterback Daunte Culpepper could be the starter for the Lions, only days after emerging from retirement and signing with the team. Week One starter Jon Kitna is on injured reserve, and Dan Orlovsky is out with a sprained thumb. And so it comes down to Culpepper or Drew Stanton or Drew Henson. In the end, it could be Culpepper. The reality is that he doesn’t have to master the entire playbook in five days. He only needs to know the plays that are in the game plan. Said coach Rod Marinelli: “He’s a veteran player that has had some great performances and still has excellent arm strength. We’ll get him to work and see how fast he picks things up and what he can do.” The 0-8 Lions host the Jaguars on Sunday, who lost to the previously 0-8 Bengals three days ago.
