At a time when concerns regarding his ability to follow a clock has been called into question, a report has emerged that receiver Dez Bryant may have a flawed ticker.
Calvin Watkins of ESPNDallas.com reports that Bryant, the 24th pick in the 2010 draft, has an irregular heartbeat. Bryant told Watkins that the condition was diagnosed at the Scouting Combine in February.
The Cowboys aren’t worried about the situation. “All of our doctors reviewed that and it’s just not something we were concerned about,” Cowboys ownerJerry Jones told Watkins. “As a matter of fact, in visiting with experts in that area, they really did not in any way make a special notice of it. More importantly, more than anything, it isn’t and it wouldn’t have a negative impact on his ability to be a ball player or affect his ability to have a normal life.”
Still, he’s not living a normal life. He’s playing professional football, and he could be taking some solid hits to the portion of his body that houses his heart. But, surely, if the Cowboys had any real concerns, they wouldn’t have picked him.
