There appears to be a house-cleaning coming in Philadelphia, and they’re picking off front office types one at a time.
The latest is Tim McDermott, the Eagles’ senior vice president and chief marketing officer, according to Reuben Frank of CSNPhilly.com.
McDermott is the older brother of former Eagles assistant coach Sean McDermott, who is in town tonight as the Panthers defensive coordinator.
Last week, the Eagles fired a corporate PR type, owner Jeffery Lurie’s liason to the community. GM Howie Roseman received a contract extension when Joe Banner left the team, but the business side is getting a new look.
Tim McDermott was one of the top execs in the building, listed below only Lurie and team president Don Smolenski on the flow chart.
Both the Eagles and McDermott released statements calling the departure “amicable.”
While the firing of spokesmen and marketing men don’t impact the product on the field, it adds to the feeling of a pending clean sweep in Philadelphia, one which is going to collect a bunch of coaches and players in the process.
