The Eagles finally have reduced, not expanded, their quarterback depth chart.
Gone is veteran Trent Edwards, the Eagles announced late Monday afternoon.
The move reduces the Eagles’ roster to four quarterbacks: Mike Vick, Nick Foles, Dennis Dixon and G.J. Kinne.
A third-round pick in the disastrous quarterback class of 2007, Edwards spent three-plus seasons in Buffalo. Cut during the 2010 season, he landed in Jacksonville. Out of football in 2011, Edwards joined the Eagles last season, appearing in one game.
The Eagles have said that the starting job will be determined via an open competition. It’s unclear whether they’ll add another quarterback via the draft.
