Ernie Sims plans to appeal “outrageous” $50,000 fine

Eagles linebacker Ernie Sims was hit with a surprise $50,000 fine this week for a hit on Titans receiver Lavelle Hawkins, and Sims is not taking it lying down.

“I really, really hate the fact that I got fined $50,000,” Sims said. “I don’t care how much money you make, that’s a ton of money, money I worked hard for my whole life. Just for anybody to take it away from me for something that I do on the field, I just think it’s crazy. But this is the league that I play in and I’ve got to respect that, so I’m just going to go out there and keep playing football.”

Sims called the fine “outrageous” and said he just took the initiative to “take Hawkins out” and just thought he was making a play. He’s going to appeal the fine, although these comments may not help his case. Sims also had a big hit on Chris Johnson earlier in the game, but no Titans said a word to him during the contest.

“They were probably afraid I was going to hit them, too,” Sims said, laughing.
