Former NFL defensive lineman Chris Mims, a first-round pick of the Chargers, has been found dead in his L.A.-area apartment, according to TMZ.com. Authorities don’t suspect foul play. Mims was only 38. Mims was the 23rd overall selection in the 1992 draft. He spent five years with the Chargers, appearing in all but two regular-season games. He then played for the Redskins in 1997, before finishing his career as a backup with San Diego in 1998 and 1999. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.
