NFL teams are always looking for hidden gems, and a few small-college wide receivers made their bids this week for consideration in April’s draft by turning in some respectable 40-yard dash times during campus workouts. According to Gil Brandt of NFL.com, Northwestern Louisiana State wide receiver Dudley Guice clocked times of 4.40 and 4.43 in the 40-yard dash in an “impromptu workout” for an unnamed NFL scout. Guice, who’s listed at 6-foot-2, 209 pounds, also registered a 39-inch vertical leap and a 10-foot, five-inch broad jump. Meanwhile, Northeast Oklahoma wide receiver Jarrett Byers ran a wind-aided 4.42 and a 4.47 against the wind, according to Brandt, a retired Dallas Cowboys executive. Plus, Ouachita Baptist University wide receiver Julius Pruitt turned in times of 4.40 and 4.42 seconds in front of two NFL scouts.
