On Saturday, the Saints signed running back Mark Ingram to a four-year, $16 million deal. They sweetened the pot a bit for their latest addition at the position.
Per a league source, running back C.J. Spiller signed a four-year, $18 million deal with the Saints. The contract includes a $5 million signing bonus and $9 million guaranteed. It’s unclear how much is guaranteed at signing.
Also, the fourth year can void. The trigger for voiding isn’t currently known.
The average of $4.5 million per year puts Spiller at the top of the second tier of the running back market, with the first tier ending at $8 million annually.
