Game-winning Hail Mary was a first for Aaron Rodgers

If Aaron Rodgers struggled at any point for words to describe his game-winning Hail Mary last night, he has plenty of reason.

According to Jason Wilde of ESPN.com, Rodgers said he had never completed such a pass, not for his Chico Jaguars midget team, or Butte Community College or Cal and certainly not with the Packers.

“It’s the greatest feeling,” Aaron said. “We’re blessed to be able to play this game, and it reminds you at times how special this game is. You live for days like this, to be able to have something miraculous happen.”

The miracle might be a season-saver for the Packers, but Rodgers knows that as good as that one play might have been, their offense is still not playoff-ready. They didn’t score a point or convert a third down in the first half, after weeks of struggles.

“There’s going to be no masking this. We know that we struggled,” Rodgers said. “We’re inconsistent on offense. We can’t be that type of football team if we want to finish the season where we want to finish the season. We’re 8-4, there’s four games left, and we know it’s about giving yourself an opportunity, getting into the dance.

“It’s a great game we play. This one obviously ranks up there as one of the greatest joys on the field that we’ve had, together as a team and personally.”

Now we have to wait and see how far it can take them, and whether a singular play can carry over for another month.
