Maybe Falcons tight end Tony Gonzalez once again is 95-percent certain that he won’t be back in 2014. After all, he’s already under contract for that season.
Via D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Gonzalez will embark on the final campaign of his career with a two-year contract.
The $14 million deal includes a $3.5 million signing bonus, which pushes $1.75 million in cap space from 2013 to 2014.
With a $3.5 million base salary, Gonzalez will receive $7 million in 2013, with a cap charge of $5.25 million.
And if he decides to play in 2014, the Falcons already will have him under contract.
Per Ledbetter, the Falcons’ free-agency moves leave them with $3.36 million in cap space, money they’ll need to sign their draft class.
