Receiver Greg Jennings has plenty of things to say. But he’s smart about choosing his words.
Still, he’s choosing to use a lot of them as he gets settled in for his first season with the Vikings.
Most recently, he penned what the St. Paul Pioneer Press describes as a “first-person story,” but it seems to be a string of answers to various questions, with the questions omitted.
“I’m a perfectionist,” Jennings writes. “But I’m working on that. I’m going more for excellence than perfection. Perfection can get you in trouble. You don’t know when you’re trying to mold someone into perfection. You can put stress on them.”
He makes a good point, although there’s a fine line between trying to be excellent and trying to be perfect. And it sounds like Jennings thinks his new team can be close to excellent.
“I feel great about the Vikings,” Jennings says. “I feel we have something very special, a unique dynamic to make that special run.”
To make the special run, they’ll need to get past the Packers. But Jennings says he has “no ill feelings” for anyone in his former organization, and that if anything he and former teammate Aaron Rodgers “joke” with each other.
Packers fans likely won’t be joking when they greet Jennings on his return to Lambeau Field with something other than laughter. No matter what he says after he experiences it, it won’t feel perfect. Or excellent.
