GREG KNAPP JOINS SEAHAWKS

New Seahawks head coach Jim Mora is wasting little time getting the band back together. Adam Schefter reports that Greg Knapp, who served as offensive coordinator for the Falcons when Mora was their head coach, is the team’s new offensive coordinator. Knapp spent the past two seasons as the offensive coordinator for the Raiders but, per Schefter, Knapp started working with the Seahawks this week after his Oakland contract expired. Knapp was also considered a contender for the offensive coordinator job with the 49ers, where he coached in various roles from 1995 to 2003. Like outgoing coach Mike Holmgren, Knapp favors a West Coast offensive scheme, which should make the transition easier for incumbent quarterback Matt Hasselbeck. Oakland finished 14th in the AFC in both scoring and yards per game in 2008 and regressed from 2007 in each area, while his Falcons offenses finished in the middle of the pack during Knapp’s years with Atlanta.
