The Broncos and running back Ronnie Hillman have agreed to terms on a one-year contract, per multiple reports.
The news of Hillman’s signing comes a day after a report that talks between the Broncos and Hillman’s representation had “heated up.”
Signing now allows Hillman to be involved in the team’s offseason program and prepare to again compete for touches and a consistent role. Hillman led the Broncos with 207 carries, 863 yards and seven rushing touchdowns last season, though C.J. Anderson was the lead back in the postseason.
The Broncos matched a restricted free agent offer to Anderson last month to keep him on board. With the Broncos breaking in a new quarterback, both Anderson and Hillman figure to get plenty of touches.
Hillman, 24, was a third-round pick of the Broncos in 2012. He’s started 15 games over the last two seasons, has 12 career rushing touchdowns and averages 4.1 yards per carry for his career.
