On Monday, we reported that Jaguars receiver Troy Williamson would miss the rest of the year due to injury.
Later in the day, coach Jack Del Rio said that he hadn’t heard that Williamson would be shut down.
Presumably, Del Rio has since heard the news.
The team has placed Williamson on injured reserve. He suffered a shoulder injury in Sunday’s 31-17 loss to the Cardinals.
We assumed that Del Rio was playing dumb in order to lure a veteran replacement at minimal cost. To replace Williamson, however, the Jags have turned to their practice squad, elevating Tiquan Underwood, a seventh-round pick in the 2009 draft.
And Underwood’s spot on the depth chart has been filled by Nate Hughes, who was dropped from the active roster after doing his best Troy Williamson impersonation -- on back-to-back plays -- during Sunday’s loss.
