The good news for the Jaguars is that rookie receiver Justin Blackmon, the fifth pick in the 2012 draft, already looks like a seasoned veteran. The bad news is that, beyond Blackmon, they really don’t have anything at receiver.
Blackmon has proven to be the favorite target of second-year quarterback Blaine Gabbert, with seven targets and four catches into the third quarter. Beyond Blackmon, however, Gabbert doesn’t have many options.
Laurent Robinson, the big-money free-agent acquisition, has been largely invisible.
That’s not the case for Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco, who has spread the ball to nine receivers, with Torrey Smith making eight catches for 103 yards.
Smith left the game momentarily in the first quarter after suffering an apparent leg injury. He returned at the start of the second quarter.
Gabbert has completed as of this posting eight of 16 passes for 83 yards. Flacco has thrown 36 passes with 27 completions for 266 yards and two touchdowns.
