Bengals linebacker James Harrison will be facing his old team when the Steelers come to town on Monday night, but he believes his old team is significantly weakened.
According to Harrison, Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey, who suffered a season-ending knee injury in Week One, was the best player on Pittsburgh’s offense.
“They lost their best offensive player they had in Pouncey,” Harrison said on a conference call with the Pittsburgh media.
That may seem like a shot at Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, although Harrison isn’t the only person who feels that way. Former Chiefs G.M. Scott Pioli said on Football night in America that he considers Pouncey the Steelers’ best offensive player, too.
Harrison added that he believes the Steelers will regroup and get things together and play better this week than they did last week. Harrison also said he doesn’t think he’ll have anything negative to say to any of his old teammates, adding, “I was never a talker.”
Harrison says he gave his new team “a few pointers” about how to attack the Steelers’ defense. After 11 seasons in Pittsburgh, Harrison has plenty he can share.
