The Eagles were forced to change quarterbacks during last Sunday’s 31-21 win against the Texans, but the switch from Nick Foles to Mark Sanchez didn’t cause wide receiver Jeremy Maclin to miss a beat.
Maclin opened up the scoring with a 59-yard touchdown pass from Foles and accounted for the final points of the game when he caught a nine-yard toss from Sanchez for his second score of the game. In between, Maclin had four other catches -- including a 52-yarder from Sanchez -- and finished the day with 158 yards overall.
That was enough to earn him recognition from the league as the NFC offensive player of the week. It’s the first time Maclin has been so honored.
Maclin has 45 catches for 790 yards and eight touchdowns on the season, which makes for both a strong comeback from last year’s ACL and a strong case for Maclin to land a bigger and/or longer deal than the one-year, $5.5 million contract he signed with the Eagles in the offseason.
