Jets running back Leon Washington, saddled with the fourth-year of a slotted rookie deal that will pay him only $535,000 this season, has decided to end his boycott of offseason workouts, according to agent Alvin Keels. “Leon Washington has decided to return to off-season workouts while we continue to work on a contract extension for him,” Keels said at his Twitter page. “A move of good faith.” Per the Jets’ official Twitter feed, both Washington and Thomas Jones are participating in practice on Monday morning. It’s a pair of victories for the Jets, who have no ability to punish players who stay away from voluntary drills. For the players, boycotting non-mandatory offseason practices is the only leverage that can be exerted in order to get a new contract.
