In Dallas, the Road to, um, Dallas has just hit a potentially significant pothole.
Calvin Watkins of ESPNDallas.com reports that starting right tackle Marc Colombo was carted off the field during practice with a right knee injury.
The injury occurred during an afternoon practice, and Colombo is now getting an MRI.
Last year, Colombo broke his left fibula in Week 10, opening the door for Doug Free to show what he can do. Free performed well enough in place of Colombo to prompt the team to dump long-time left tackle Flozell Adams, and to pair Free up with Colombo.
Per Watkins, Sam Young replaced Colombo.
The 29th pick in the 2002 draft. During his rookie season, Colombo suffered a dislocated kneecap with nerve damage, and he missed all of the 2003 season. The Bears cut him in 2005, he signed with the Cowboys, and he started every game from 2006 through 2008.
UPDATE: Colombo needs surgery, but he’ll miss only two-to-four weeks.
