Aaron Rodgers was hot to start Sunday’s game in Chicago, but he and the Packers have cooled off on a frigid day at Soldier Field.
That’s given Bears quarterback Matt Barkley a chance to warm up. Barkley threw a 10-yard touchdown to Josh Bellamy with 2:16 left in the first half to give the Bears a 10-7 lead over the Packers.
Barkley is 9-of-12 for 128 yards overall and hooked up with Deonte Thompson three times on the previous possession to set up a Connor Barth field goal. Alshon Jeffery has only been targeted once in his return from suspension, but Thompson has four catches for 62 yards and Cameron Meredith had a big 34-yard gain on the touchdown drive.
Rodgers is also 9-of-12, but was sacked on a fourth down from the Bears’ 22-yard-line to keep the Packers at seven points while the Bears were finding their footing.
