The Seahawks have signed quarterback Matt Flynn, and now it’s time to add some offensive skill position players around him.
Toward that end, running back Michael Bush and tight end Jacob Tamme have scheduled visits in Seattle, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports.
Bush is one of the many veteran running backs who have found out the hard way over the last week that the market for veteran running backs isn’t strong. The reality in the NFL is that most teams just aren’t looking to spend a lot of money on running backs, and the teams that do spend a lot of money on running backs often come to regret it.
However, if the Seahawks can sign Bush to a relatively inexpensive deal, in addition to the relatively expensive deal they gave Marshawn Lynch, Seattle would have a nice 1-2 punch at running back. Bush gained 977 yards for the Raiders last year, while Lynch gained 1,204 yards for the Seahawks.
Tamme became a solid receiving option for Peyton Manning in 2010, catching 67 passes for 631 yards, but as the Colts faltered without Manning in 2011, Tamme didn’t get involved much in the passing game, catching just 19 balls for 177 yards.
Bush checks in at No. 22 on our Free Agent Hot 100, while Tamme is No. 90.
UPDATE, 11:00 a.m.: Schefter later reported that Bush has not yet scheduled a visit to Seattle, but the Seahawks very much want him.
