The Panthers entered last season needing a pair of offensive tackles, and they still do.

But with the Byron Bell experiment drawn to a close, the Panthers are looking around for external help this time.

According to Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun, former Ravens and Titans tackle Michael Oher visited the Panthers recently.

Oher started every game over five seasons in Baltimore, with middling results, but acceptable on the right side. And his lone season in Tennessee was only good for family members who were nearby and wanted to visit.

But regardless the problems with the Titans, Oher would be an upgrade over what the Panthers have, which isn’t much.

Bell was a serviceable right tackle who struggled when moved to the left last year, and they’ve told him they’re going to let him test the market. They opened the year with converted defensive tackle Nate Chandler at right tackle, but when he was hurt, things improved when they plugged former Rams practice squadder Mike Remmers in there.

Oher was waived-injured by the Titans, after closing the year on IR with a toe injury, but is reportedly healthy now.

If the Panthers could find an acceptable tackle in free agency, it would free up their draft picks to find pass-rushers, receivers and defensive backs (and another tackle).
