So much for the bad economy.
A week after the league landed a new beer sponsor that will pay $200 million per year -- twice what the existing beer sponsor pays -- the NFL is closing in on a new HDTV sponsor.
Vizio, according to Terry Lefton of SportsBusiness Journal, is in the “final stages” of working out a new deal to become the HDTV sponsor. Samsung reportedly was paying $6 million annually, and it hoped to cut its fee to $2 million per year. The deal expired in March without a renewal.
It remains to be seen whether Vizio will be paying as much, more, or less than Samsung.
