Every Friday, a number of NFL players find out they owe the league money.
Folks seem interested in this information, but each fine isn’t worthy of its own post, so here’s a handy roundup for those of you who like to see rich men get a little less rich.
Three Patriots found letters in their lockers from the league office this week, according to ESPNBoston.com’s Mike Reiss. Guard Logan Mankins was fined $5,000 for unnecessary roughness against the Broncos. Safety Brandon Meriweather was fined 7,500 for unsportsmanlike conduct. Ty Warren was fined 5,000 for roughing the passer.
Vikings defensive tackle Kevin Williams was fined $7,500 for an illegal blow to the head of Rams quarterback Kyle Boller. Williams’ teammate, Artis Hicks, drew a $5,000 fine for pushing Rams defensive tackle Gary Gibson. In the same game, Rams cornerback Quincy Butler is now $7,500 lighter because of a horse-collar tackle.
And a second Tennessee Titan, Jacob Ford, was fined $5,000 for hitting Peyton Manning. PFT previously mentioned that Kyle Vanden Bosch was also fined for hitting Manning.
