Led by a sharp offense, the 49ers took a 13-10 lead after two quarters vs. visiting Kansas City on Sunday.
Quarterback Colin Kaepernick connected on 8-of-15 passes for 122 yards in the first half, and his nine-yard scoring toss to a wide-open Stevie Johnson with about 30 seconds left in the second quarter put San Francisco on the lead for the first time.
The Niners did well to keep drives alive, converting 5-of-7 third downs, including all three on their TD drive, with a key Kaepernick seven-yard scramble the first in the sequence. Also, kicker Phil Dawson hit field goals of 55 and 31 yards before the 49ers finally reached the endzone.
Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith was 12-of-19 for 117 yards in the first half for Kansas City, which scored on its first two drives before slowing down a little.
