Maybe Patriots coach Bill Belichick knows something Broncos coach Gary Kubiak doesn’t.
And maybe that’s not the first time.
While Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning told Belichick last week that it might have been his “last rodeo,” Kubiak said Thursday Manning’s never had that conversation with him.
“He hasn’t said anything to me,” Kubiak told reporters.
Manning tried to have some fun with the whole topic, apparently unaware at the time he was being recorded by the NFL Network last week.
He joked “That hasn’t been confirmed,” and wondered what happened to private conversations on the field.
What happened was the NFL found a way to monetize it, which supersedes Manning’s right to privacy, of course.
And to his credit, Manning wasn’t going into the topic of his future, by adding his own Belichickian spin to things.
“We’re on to Carolina,” Manning joked.
He joins a line that includes his own brother, and it seems clear that he wants to avoid the topic of his legacy until his career is actually over.
