Randall Cobb graduates from Kentucky

Randall Cobb left college as a young man, young enough that in 2011, as a rookie for the Packers, he became the first player born in the 1990s to play in the NFL. But he was determined to get his college diploma, and now he has.

Cobb walked across the stage at Kentucky’s commencement on Saturday. Among those in attendance was Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Although he decided he was ready for the NFL after only three years at Kentucky, Cobb says he has always wanted to get a college degree, which no one in his family had done before.

“It really is a major accomplishment for not only me but my family,” he said. “I’ll be the first one to graduate in my immediate family. I’m trying to change generations, change everyone who comes after me. Because I believe education is important. The older I get, the more I understand how important it is. Yes, I’ve been able to be successful on the field, but I want to be successful in as many fields as I can.”

Cobb still has some credits to finish and will be officially done with college in August, just in time for training camp.
