Baltimore’s defense started the season looking like the best unit in the league.

Heading into Thursday night’s game against the 49ers, San Francisco appears to have the dominant front seven than Baltimore is supposed to have. The Ravens have shown signs of decline in recent weeks.

Against the Seahawks, Marshawn Lynch and the Seahawks offensive line pushed Baltimore around to run out the clock with a game-clinching six minute drive.

Andy Dalton led the Bengals to 483 yards of offense against the Ravens the following week. Baltimore’s pass rush didn’t really show up until the final plays of the game.

“We’ve got to get better,” Ravens linebacker Jameel McClain told the Baltimore Sun after the Bengals game.

Baltimore’s defense started the season getting compared to the best groups in Ravens history. They haven’t lived up to that standard of late, and now face a physical 49ers front that often wears defenses down.

Thursday night’s battle of the Harbaughs would be a great time for this Ravens defense to turn things around.
