One of the top restricted free agents has reportedly received the second-highest tender offer from his club.
Eagles defensive lineman Cedric Thornton has been tendered at the second-round level, ESPN’s Field Yates reported Saturday.
The 26-year-old Thornton has started all 16 games in the last two seasons for Philadelphia. He ranks 101st among PFT’s top free agents of 2015. Thornton (6-4, 309) recorded 51 tackles and one sack in 2014.
While Thornton is free to negotiate with other clubs until he signs his tender, the Eagles can match any offer, and the signing club would have to surrender a second-round pick if Philadelphia declined to match. In short, the tender all but ensures Thornton will be with the Eagles for 2015.
Yates also reports that Raiders wide receiver Rod Streater and Rams safety Rodney McLeod were tendered at the second-round level. Streater, 27, has been a starter for Oakland, but he was limited to just three games last season because of a broken foot.
The 25-year-old McLeod played and started all 16 games for St, Louis last season, recording 72 tackles, six passes defended and two picks.
