The Panthers were already young in the secondary, and they are apparently getting rid of one of the experienced ones.
According to Tom Pelissero of USA Today, the Panthers are releasing former starting cornerback Bene Benwikere.
The third-year corner had started for them after the post-Josh Norman overhaul, and had an interception in the opener against Denver.
He was part of a secondary that got torched by Julio Jones for 300 yards last week, but he was hardly the only one at fault.
The Panthers drafted three cornerbacks this year, and are apparently content to move on without the 2014 fifth-rounder. They’ve replaced him on the roster with practice-squader Zack Sanchez.
