It took 55 firefighters more than an hour to get the fire at Ron Rivera’s house under control this morning.

Amazingly, no one was hurt.

The Panthers coach was sleeping when a fire started in his home around 4 a.m., but was able to get everyone out in time.

“I’m OK,” Rivera said, via WCNC. “Everyone is fine, thank you guys.”
There’s significant damage to the roof and attic of his south Charlotte home, and a Charlotte Fire Department spokesman said the early indications were that the fire was accidental.

He’s going to need a place to stay temporarily, while he prepares his team for a long trip to Seattle for this weekend’s playoff game.

The fire is the latest in a long line of off-field issues for the team this season, from Cam Newton’s car wreck to Greg Hardy’s arrest for domestic violence to the messy divorce from long-time wide receiver Steve Smith.
