Some 49ers fans burn Kaepernick jerseys

He set the league on fire in 2012. Now, fans are setting his jersey ablaze.

CBSSports.com and SB Nation have compiled a smattering of social-media anecdotal evidence indicating that some 49ers fans have taken to burning the jersey of quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

It’s an extreme gesture, usually reserved for complete betrayal and/or dog fighting. Rarely (if ever) does a player’s jersey get burning because he has to play better and he’s not playing better because he hasn’t been playing well.

Of course, there’s always a chance that Kaepernick will turn things around. Then, fans may show up wearing whatever is left of the burned-out jersey.

If he doesn’t turn it around, there are plenty of jerseys to potentially burn. For the second quarter of 2013, Kaepernick had the best-selling jersey in the league.
