The Bills and Steelers are playing in the snow in Buffalo on Sunday afternoon and an attempt to clear the playing field at halftime led to a short delay before the second half could start.
They cleared the field of snow during the break, but that also forced up a great number of the black pellets that provide cushioning on the artificial turf at New Era Stadium. Those pellets were piled up behind the end zone, leading officials to hold off on starting the third quarter until they were cleared by stadium workers.
It’s the second rubber-related issue on the field in Buffalo this season but, as someone might have once said, better rubber pellets than rubber marital aids.
That work has been done and the second half is now underway. The Steelers kicked off to the Bills, who trail 14-7 after a first half that saw Ben Roethlisberger throw a pair of interceptions that helped Buffalo stay within striking distance as their offense struggled to move the ball consistently.
