Titans wide receiver Justin Hunter remains in a Houston hospital after lacerating his spleen during Sunday’s loss to the Texans and it will be a long while before we see him back on the field.

The Titans placed Hunter on injured reserve on Tuesday, ending his season after 12 games. Hunter doesn’t need to have surgery to repair his injury, but the lengthy recuperation time and dwindling weeks left in the season mean that he won’t return to action in 2015.

When he does, Hunter will continue to try to use his size, speed and athletic ability to grow into a top-flight receiver. Issues at quarterback and changes to the offensive system in the offseason didn’t help him, but it’s safe to say that more was expected of Hunter this season than 28 catches for 458 yards and three touchdowns given the amount of playing time he had this season.

The Titans signed tackle Terren Jones off the Ravens practice squad to bring the roster back to 53 players.
