Commanders running back Austin Ekeler was injured on a non-contact play late in Thursday night’s game.
Ekeler was away from the play after delivering a chip block when he went down to the turf with no one around him as he tried to change directions. He tried to get up and couldn’t with 5:28 left.
He could put no weight on his right leg before being carted off the sideline.
The Commanders quickly ruled him out with an Achilles injury.
Ekeler had eight carries for 17 yards and two catches for 7 yards.
The Commanders list cornerback Jonathan Jones (hamstring) as questionable to return and ruled out wide receiver Noah Brown (groin). In the first half, defensive lineman Deatrich Wise Jr. (quad) was carted off and ruled out. Tight end John Bates (groin) also was ruled out, and offensive guard Brandon Coleman (shoulder) was questionable to return.
Tucker Kraft is having a night.
The Packers tight end has six catches for 124 yards, and his 8-yard touchdown reception might be the death knell for the Commanders. Kraft’s touchdown with 8:57 left completed a nine-play, 65-yard drive and has upped the Packers lead to 24-10.
Kraft is having the best night for a Packers tight end since Richard Rodgers caught eight passes for 146 yards, including 61 on a Hail Mary from Aaron Rodgers on the final play for a win over the Lions in 2015.
The Packers now have 405 yards, with Jordan Love going 19-of-29 for 292 yards and two touchdowns.
Josh Jacobs has 20 rushes for 70 yards and a touchdown, his 11th consecutive game with a rushing touchdown, including the postseason.
The Commanders had five first downs and 94 yards on their first seven possessions. They punted four times, missed two field goals and made a field goal.
The Commanders opened the fourth quarter with their best drive.
They drove 50 yards in 11 plays, picking up four first downs, and scoring a touchdown on Jayden Daniels’ 20-yard touchdown throw to tight end Zach Ertz.
Despite being dominated most of the night, the Commanders are within 17-10 with 13:45 left.
Daniels is 16-of-26 for 119 yards, while Ertz has four catches for 49 yards.
The Packers have 356 yards but are having a tough time putting away the Commanders.
Packers wide receiver Jayden Reed was injured on the first series of the game.
The team now has ruled Reed out with a shoulder injury.
Adding insult to injury, Reed had his 39-yard touchdown catch negated by a holding penalty on right tackle Anthony Belton. Reed landed hard on his right shoulder on the tackle by Commanders defensive back Quan Martin, whose weight was fully on Reed as Reed landed on the turf.
The Commanders have ruled out defensive lineman Deatrich Wise Jr. (quad) and tight end John Bates (groin). Wise was carted off the field after an extra point.
Commanders offensive guard Brandon Coleman (shoulder) is questionable to return.
The Packers dominated the Commanders in the first half Thursday, but they lead only 14-3 at halftime.
Green Bay has outgained Washington 274 to 82, with 119 yards coming after the catch, and the Packers have 13 first downs to only four for the Commanders.
The Packers scored touchdowns on drives of 96 and 92 yards, with Romeo Doubs scoring on a 5-yard reception and Josh Jacobs scoring on a 2-yard run. It was the 11th consecutive game for Jacobs to score a rushing touchdown, including the postseason.
The Packers had a 39-yard touchdown pass from Jordan Love to Jayden Reed negated by a holding penalty on right tackle Anthony Belton and turned it over on downs on their first series.
Both teams missed a field goal in the waning seconds, with Matt Gay missing wide left on a 58-yard try with 14 seconds remaining and Brandon McManus hitting the left upright on a 48-yard attempt on the final play of the half.
Gay has the Commanders’ only points with a 51-yarder with 4:27 remaining in the second quarter.
Love is 13-of-18 for 214 yards and a touchdown, with Tucker Kraft catching three for 89. Jacobs has rushed for 42 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries.
Micah Parsons has one quarterback hit.
Jayden Daniels has three carries for 14 yards and has completed 9 of 15 passes for 49 yards. Terry McLaurin has caught two passes for 18 yards.
