The NHL has canceled all games through November, the CBC’s Elliotte Friedman reports.

For now, the Winter Classic at Michigan Stadium remains scheduled for Jan. 1.

The move is not unexpected after the owners and players failed to reach a new CBA by Oct. 25 that would’ve allowed the season to start on Nov. 2. The only question was how many games would be canceled.

A total of 326 games -- around a quarter of the season -- have now been abandoned. Among those is the Nov. 23 Thanksgiving Classic between the Bruins and Rangers that would’ve been NBC’s first national TV broadcast of the season.

Update: The league has confirmed Friedman’s report.
