Vancouver Olympic downhill champion Lindsey Vonn said she took it slow in her first skiing sessions in 10 months last week, in Soelden, Austria.
“I’ve been working on technique, nothing fast, just taking it slow, doing a couple of draws and gates,” she told Agence France-Presse in a story published Saturday. “I won’t do speed training for few more days still. My first race will be in Lake Louise [Alberta, the first weekend of December]. I have enough time and there is no stress, take it easy.”
Vonn, coming back from January knee surgery, repeated that she’s not going for the overall World Cup title this season but she felt she could do well in the World Championships at home in Vail/Beaver Creek, Colo., in February.
Her focus until then is on Annemarie Moser-Proell‘s female record 62 career World Cup race victories. Vonn has 59 wins, with at least six per season in six straight campaigns from 2008 through 2013.
