There’s still another run to go in the giant slalom, but so far “Shred Ted” did exactly that on Wednesday. The U.S. skier put together an impressive 1:21.08 first run, giving him a lead that exceeds one second.
What a run by @tedligety! He's into #1 spot after Run 1 of men's GS by an astounding 1.33 seconds! #Sochi2014 pic.twitter.com/1g8ZppyuuF

Things didn’t go quite as well for Bode Miller, who finished with a time of 1:23.64. As of this writing, Austria’s Matthias Mayer and France’s Thomas Fanara are tied for second with 1:22.41 times, 1.33 behind Ligety’s eye-popping first run.
Again, there’s another run to go, so don’t hand Ligety the gold just yet. Here’s a live stream link for the second run, which begins at 5:30 a.m. ET.
