Olympic and World figure skating champion Yuna Kim will reportedly make her season debut in Zagreb, Croatia, in one month.
It was announced in late September that the South Korean Kim, 23, would miss around six weeks after a metatarsal injury to her right foot from training. She withdrew from her two Grand Prix assignments.
Last week, Kim said she was about “70 percent” recovered and doing triple jumps in practice.
“I’ve recovered a lot from the injury, and I have chosen this competition after reviewing my options,” she said in a news release on Tuesday, according to Reuters. “I will prepare hard and get satisfying results.”
The Golden Spin in Zagreb is a lower-level event from Dec. 5-8.
If she makes it to Sochi, Kim will try to become the first woman since Katarina Witt to win back-to-back Olympic figure skating titles. The Sochi Games will be her final Olympics.
