Sacramento waived Quinn Cook on Thursday.
Cook was only on an Exhibit 10 deal, so this was expected. He’s more likely find a G-League team to play for than he is an NBA squad, so this won’t impact fantasy hoops.

  • NBA Shooting Guard #24
The Kings waived Quinn Cook and Kent Bazemore on Thursday morning.
Cook was only on an Exhibit 10 deal, while Bazemore’s $1.8 million contract was fully non-guaranteed. Neither player was going to see minutes for Sacramento this season, so they went ahead and cleared the roster spaces. Bazemore could sign with a playoff team to provide some defense, but it’s unlikely that he sees any real playing time.

  • FA Point Guard #28
The Kings are signing PG Quinn Cook to a one-year deal.
Cook played in the G-League for the Stockton Kings last season and will compete for the third-string point guard job this year. Which means he’s not going to have fantasy value unless there are some injuries to the Kings’ backcourt.

  • FA Point Guard #28
The Kings have reportedly shown interest in unrestricted free agent Quinn Cook.
Cook spent last season playing overseas and then with Sacramento’s G League affiliate, but it’s possible he could find a minimum-level deal with the Kings to serve in a mentorship role to the younger guys. He wouldn’t have any value as the third-string point guard on the roster, but he has reportedly received interest from multiple teams, so it looks like he might be back in the NBA this season.

  • NBA Point Guard #8
Matthew Dellavedova, Quinn Cook, and Shabazz Muhammad have all been working out with the Kings recently, according to FOX40 Sacramento’s Sean Cunningham.
Dellavedova, who spent last season playing in his native Australia, is reportedly hoping to get back into the NBA for the 2022-23 season. The same can be said for Cook and Muhammad, with the latter being a former lottery pick. This is likely a “baby steps” situation, in which each of the veteran players is first hoping to lock down a training camp invite. From there, the goal will be to land a spot on any team’s opening night roster.

  • FA Point Guard #28
Quinn Cook agreed to a contract with Russian squad Lokomotiv Kuban for the 2021-22 season.
Cook, who has two career NBA titles on his resume, played in two preseason games for Portland earlier this month, averaging 3.5 points, 1.0 rebound, 0.5 assists and 13.3 minutes. The Blazers waived him before the start of the regular season.

  • FA Point Guard #28
Quinn Cook has reportedly inked a training camp deal with the Trail Blazers.
Cook will serve as an extra body at training camp, but it’s a bit unlikely that he’ll be able to earn a regular-season roster spot with the Trail Blazers.

  • FA Point Guard #28
Quinn Cook’s second 10-day deal has expired and the Cavs will not sign him to a rest-of-season contract.
Cook is now an unrestricted free agent and it remains to be seen if he attracts any interest. Even if he does sign with another team, though, he’s not going to benefit fantasy managers.

  • CLE Point Guard #10
Darius Garland (strained left groin) is probable for Sunday’s game vs. the Hawks.
Garland got hurt prior to the All-Star break, so it was a bit concerning to see him sit out Friday’s game vs. New Orleans. Fortunately, that appears to have been a precaution and barring a setback he should be back on Sunday after missing two games. The Cavs will likely abandon their jumbo starting lineup once Garland is active, and backup PG Quinn Cook could fall from the rotation.

  • FA Point Guard #28
Quinn Cook made his Cavs debut on Friday, putting up 13 points on 5-of-8 shooting, three 3-pointers, four rebounds, two assists and one steal in 17 minutes of action.
Darius Garland (left groin strain) was out due to an injury he sustained on Mar. 3, though he was a game-time decision and could be back Sunday vs. Atlanta. It’s unclear how coach Stephen Silas will juggle his starting five with Garland active, but regardless it’ll ensure that Cook is vying for a handful of backup minutes.
