Mariners signed INF Seth Mejias-Brean to a minor league contract.
Mejias-Brean, 30, hasn’t seen time in the big leagues since his cup of coffee with the Padres during the 2019 season. He spent the 2021 campaign in the Orioles organization where he slashed .234/.321/.390 with eight homers, 31 RBI and a 56/26 K/BB ratio in 246 plate appearances between Double-A Bowie and Triple-A Norfolk. He saw action at third base, second base and both corner outfield spots during the 2021 season and that versatility could earn him an opportunity with the big league club at some point during the upcoming 2022 season.

Seth Mejias-Brean went 3-for-4 and hit a two-run, walk-off home run in the 10th inning Sunday to lead the Padres to a 6-4 win over the Diamondbacks.
Mejias-Brean had an RBI single in the sixth inning and stepped to the plate with a runner on first and no outs in the 10th with a chance to provide some more fireworks. He delivered when he smashed a Yoan Lopez breaking ball into the second deck in left field, sending the fans home happy. The homer was the second for the 28-year-old since he was promoted by the Padres earlier this month, and he’s hitting .300/.364/.700 in a very small sample size. Sunday was surely a day Mejias-Brean won’t forget.

Reds third base prospect Seth Mejias-Brean went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two walks for Double-A Pensacola on Saturday, and is now hitting .276/.415/.355 in 22 games in the Southern league.
Mejias-Brean has 17 walks and nine strikeouts in Double-A. He is not hitting for nearly as much power as he was in the California League, but that is likely a product of both better pitching and a more neutral offensive environment.
