Sergio Aguero will miss next weekend’s Manchester derby (Saturday, 7:30 a.m. ET) and two more domestic games beyond that after Manchester City’s appeal of his three-game ban was denied, the English Football Association announced on Friday.

Aguero was charged by the FA earlier this week after having been seen to elbow West Ham United defender Winston Reid in the 74th minute of Man City’s 3-1 victory last Sunday. Reid subsequently left the game with a neck injury.

Following the club’s appeal and a Friday hearing to argue their case, the FA have decided to uphold the charge and three games’ worth of discipline. The trip to Old Trafford (Watch live, 7:30.m. ET on NBCSN and online via NBC Sports) just got a bit tougher for Pep Guardiola and Co.
