Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho will continue his running rivalry with Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger when both squads meet this Sunday at Stamford Bridge.
Holding 16 points on the Premier League year so far, the Blues sit at first place in the league table, and the men of the Emirates trail closely behind, in sixth place with 10 points.
Back in February, Wenger implied that his counterpart had a “fear of failure” after the former Real Madrid boss had said that it would be a disappointment if the Gunners didn’t take the 2013-14 Premier League title.
Mourinho then fired back and said that the Frenchman was “a specialist in failure.”
Ahead of this match, Mourinho didn’t provide the typical bland answer to a question regarding the two manager’s dispute last season.
He expanded on his comments and stated that there was no reason to bring up the war of words, since each squad’s main focus revolves strictly around the business of winning and providing entertainment for fans around the globe.
“Intelligent football people don’t need that. Finish, move and let’s go for another match with big responsibility for both of us. We manage two big clubs in London and we have a responsibility not to win, but to give a good match for the millions of fans both clubs have, and the billions of fans of the Premier League around the world, to have a big match with no problems.”
“It was a consequence of something. It wasn’t a deliberate first option to say something. It was a consequence of something.”
