While the hosts will be a focal point in Friday’s lone match, their opponent, Colombia, is seen as one of the tournament and Group A favorites. After a disappointing quarterfinals finish at last summer’s Copa America, Los Cafeteros will look to get off to a strong start at Levi’s Stadium against the USMNT.

Here’s a quick primer on what you can expect from today’s game, while you can follow the action live by clicking on the link above.

Game 1: USA vs. Colombia

When: Friday, 9:30 p.m. EST

Where: Levi’s Stadium, Santa Clara, CA

Live updates: NBCSports.com

Jurgen Klinsmann and the U.S. will need to come out flying if they want to gain a positive result on Friday. With attacking threats Carlos Bacca and James Rodriguez, as well as Juan Cuadrado pushing the buttons for the Colombians, the Yanks will need to remain compact and organized throughout the night. On the opposite end, pay close attention to young striker Bobby Wood, who will likely be the USMNT’s main target up front. His form at Union Berlin last season was special, but he’ll have to carry it over to the international stage if his team wants to advance past the group stage.
