Romelu Lukaku’s future at Everton is uncertain, and manager Roberto Martinez was forced to comment on it at his press conference on Tuesday.

With the Merseyside Derby looming on Wednesday, Martinez was asked whether reports linking Lukaku to Borussia Dortmund or other locations would distract his team.

“The response is very clear,” Martinez said. “We are in our defining week of the season and if you think we are going to be distracted by any reports, you are mistaken. We are very much focused on what we’ve got in front of us. Romelu’s been having a really, really impressive season and it’s really important we keep up with those standards until the end.”

Fortunately for Martinez, it seems the questions came before the latest bit of gossip: that Lukaku has indeed been hanging out in Germany.

Sky Germany say that Romelu Lukaku has been to look around Borussia Dortmund’s training ground.
