On Wednesday it was revealed that the Tottenham Hotspur striker has suffered a broken nose in training and will miss their crucial Europa League Round of 32 second leg clash at White Hart Lane against Fiorentina on Thursday.

With the scores locked at 1-1 after the first leg in Florence (the away goal gives Spurs a bit of an edge), it was expected that Mauricio Pochettino may have rested Kane and a few other regulars with Spurs only needing a 0-0 draw to advance to the last 16 of the Europa League.

That said, having Kane out through injury will be a worry for Spurs’ fans as he’s likely to play with a protective face mask in the coming weeks. His manager believes he will be fit to face Swansea this Sunday (Watch live, 9:05 a.m. ET online via Live Extra) in the Premier League despite having an operation on his nose.

“Harry Kane will be available for Sunday. We expect and hope he is available,” Pochettino said. “Today he wasn’t here because he is seeing the specialist about his nose. Our expectation is that he will be available for next Sunday.”

Exhale, Tottenham fans.

It seems like the face masks have become all the rage this season with Chelsea’s quarter of Cesar Azpilicueta, Nemanja Matic, Diego Costa and Gary Cahill all donning the black mask after suffering similar facial injuries.

Kane, 22, is Spurs’ leading goalscorer this term with 19 goals in 37 appearances and is currently on a hot-streak with five goals in his last five PL outings.

Making sure the north Londoner is ready and raring to go for the massive north London derby against rivals Arsenal on Mar. 5 will be at the forefront of Pochettino’s mind, so perhaps Kane may sit out the clash against Swansea this weekend. Let’s wait and see. Another injury note is that midfielder Mousa Dembele has picked up “a small groin injury” and won’t be risked against La Viola.
